What causes Urticaria (Hives)?

Urticaria usually appears due to the allergens affecting the skin. The disease develops in two different kinds as the ‘acute ordinary urticaria’ and ‘chronic ordinary urticaria’. The urticaria lesions caused by allergic reactions are quite bothering because of the severe itching.

How is it treated?

Firstly, the allergic factor causing the urticaria is determined. Depending on the findings of the tests, a change of diet or habits is advised. In some cases, as the medication might cause urticaria, the current medication is replaced with another. In chronic urticaria, the underlying illness is detected and treated. Antihistaminic medicines are used for the treatment.
